Call for Compositions

Each  year, MMEA provides composition assessment and feedback through its  Call for Compositions. The Call for Compositions is not a competition,  but rather an opportunity for students to receive personal feedback  about their compositions. The compositions are reviewed by a panel of  professional musicians, and each student receives a written evaluation  of their piece, along with a score and rating. Adjudicators highlight  strong points and make positive suggestions for future growth.

The Young Composers Project eligibility rules are as follows:

  • Young Composers is open to all Maryland students enrolled in music classes/lessons, grades PK-12.
  • Each student must have their music educator certify eligibility.
  • Music educators do not need to be member of MMEA/NAfME in order to participate.

Submissions  open on December 1, 2021 and close on April 1, 2022 at 11:59pm each academic year.

We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
